I started using streamclip, and had a similar problem rate. This materialized as audio sync getting progressively worse through the length of a program. Since my early success, I found I was having about a 30% problem rate once I started running more material. Just thought I would post a few more observations I've made since the last post. Choose whichever you prefer in your Mac DVD editing programĬopy the files to your Mac and continue the editing/menu creation/authoring/burning process as you see fit. There is an option to create a demuxed or non demuxed video file. Use the option to export to DVD format (can't remember exactly what it's called).
Use reVue to double check that all your commercial markers are in the right spot, this guide has detailed information on how to do so.
NET Framework installed (free download via windows update site).
Load DV Archive on your PC and transfer the show on the PC.ĭownload and Install reVue and Replay TV Tools (both are free). This is close to DVD spec to reduce processing time and headache in future steps. I think that would be the easiest solution.įirst off, for DVD burning I highly recommend that you record the show on your Replay TV in "Medium Quality" mode. Since you already have a PC, you can use the PC to "clean" the MPG file, then copy it to your mac to do the final touches and burning. So, it looks like you loose a little of the automation, but rtvtools and replay tv toolshell can process RTV 4k mpgs to finished DVD in about 30-40 min. With the above excpetions, I basically followed the 5k directions here: Resulting disk plays fine with no sync issues on Sony CX850D changer. Encoding took about 10min, and writing about 8 min. Resulting file was burned to DVD using Toast 6 Ti (6.0.3). I then ran convert which took probably 3-4 mins or so. Editting took about 6-7 mins to process 1.9GB file on 1GHz G4 eMac 768M RAM from FW400 to internal drive. Note you need to uncheck "assume frame times" to use these edit points accurately. This is not great but I only needed to get to the nearest second, and for this it worked fine. I found my edit points (just trimming ends in this case) using the free quicktime player with the additional $20 mpeg 2 plugin. I found I had to manually edit this in the edit tab to add the A and D points, as they were not pulled in when I added them to the evt file directy (I haven't tried exporting from DVA). I then rtv dumped this using the toolshell. File was uploaded to Mac using DV Archive 3.1. I have a 1.5 hr PBS over the air broadcast recorded on a RTV 4040 at medium quality. RTV4040 to DVD on Mac successful using rtvtools v4, replay tv toolshell, and toast 6 Ti.
